[SCGS-CA] Lunch and Learn this Saturday June 13, 2015


Southern California Genealogical Society is very proud to announce that Jean Wilcox Hibben, PhD, MA, CG will be speaking at Lunch and Learn on Saturday, June 13 at the SCGS Library.

Ms. Hibben is the Director of the Corona Family History Center and a Board Member of the Association of Professional Genealogists.  She has served as lead researcher on the PBS series Genealogy Roadshow and is a frequent contributor to numerous genealogy publications. A retired college professor and Board Certified genealogist, she is known for her entertaining and informative presentations.  Ms. Hibben will be presenting two lectures on Saturday. 


First up, starting at 1:00 pm, is Need Direction? Try City Directories! Learn how to correlate the directories with other documents to reveal some of the lesser known bits of information about your family.

That lecture will be followed at 2:15 pm by Special Delivery:  Using U.S. Postmaster Documents in Family History Research. Learn how to access and navigate the wealth of Postmaster appointment records held by NARA and now available on Ancestry.com.


The doors open at 12:00 noon.  Bring a sack lunch to enjoy while sharing genealogical stories with like-minded folks.  The lectures begin at 1:00 pm.

Lunch and Learn is free and open to the public.
