Area Event: The Great Los Angeles Walk

Now that you've searched and found the names and vital statistics, such as birth, marriage and death dates, of your ancestors ... Maybe you've learned that they lived or worked in downtown Los Angeles from the late 1890s to the 1920s or even on into the 1970s ... what now?

The next step is to learn a bit about the history and architecture that surrounded your Angeleno ancestors. You could spend the day surfing the web, or visiting the local library - better yet, immerse yourself in the time and place. Soak up the culture and history. Take advantage of research that's already been completed by participating in The Great Los Angeles Walk 2010: Back to Wilshire event on November 20, 2010, from 10 am to 4 pm.

We pass this information along from our friends at The Great Los Angeles Walk and their partner the Los Angeles Conservancy:
We're walking from Downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica, via Wilshire Boulevard.

The route will take us past some of L.A.'s most iconic and historic features -- MacArthur Park, Bullocks Wilshire, the sites of the late great Ambassador Hotel and Brown Derby, and much much more.
Join the Walk on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010!

In the meantime - "take an interactive journey down one of LA's most fascinating streets .... " thanks to the LA Conservancy's Curating the City website.
